Canadian Government Accused of Taking Issue with DPRK's Just Judgment

Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA Tuesday as regards the fact that Canada is taking issue with the just judgment made by a judicial organ of the DPRK: The prime minister and other officials of Canada are recklessly spouting rubbish against the DPRK over the judgment its Supreme Court made by giving the penalty of life hard labor to Rim Hyon Su, a Canadian citizen, on Dec. 16. Rim was arrested while being involved in a thrice-cursed subversion plot against the DPRK, pursuant to the U.S. and the south Korean authorities' hostile policy toward the DPRK. It is very shocking that the Canadian government accuses the DPRK of its fair and square judgment, far from feeling guilty about the hideous crime committed by Rim. The government is obliged to make an apology for the hideous anti-DPRK crimes acknowledged by him and take steps for the prevention of the recurrence of similar case. However, it shielded Rim and pointed an accusing finger at the DPRK just like a thief crying "Stop the thief". We can never remain an on-looker to it. The Canadian side's unreasonable and uncouth response would only render the situation more complicated. Now the Korean people are demanding heavier punishment on Rim, hardly repressing their indignation at his crimes. It should be understood that the law of the DPRK punishes whoever harbors hostile feelings toward the ideology and social system of the country and whoever is set to undermine them. -0-
