China Calls For Resolving Iran Nuclear Issue Through Talks

Beijing, April 21, IRNA – China’s Permanent Ambassador to the UN Li Baodong said on Friday that the recent Istanbul talks proved that negotiations is the best option to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue. The issue was reflected by the Chinese media on Friday. Baodong, who was speaking at a UNSC meeting, said that maintaining the peace and stability of the Middle East region is among the responsibilities of all countries. Dialog is the only way to resolve disputes such as Iran’s nuclear issue, he said. Commitment to talks is necessary for resolving the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program, he said. Baodong invited all parties to spare no efforts to this end and continue talks until a mutual trust is reached among them. Iran’s nuclear issue should be resolved based on a just and logical approach, the top envoy said. He described recent talks between Iran and G5+1 in Istanbul as constructive. China backs Iran's right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and is opposed to unilateral sanctions imposed by the West on Tehran./end
