CORRUPTION IN MONGOLIA DECREASES
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Transparency International (TI), a non-governmental organization headquarted in Berlin, Germany, has released an annual corruption perceptions index (CPI) for this year. It monitors and publicizes corporate and political corruption in international development.
According to the index, Mongolia stood at 94th place out of 174 countries surveyed along with seven other nations Benin, Colombia, Djibouti, Greece, India, Moldova and Senegal. By the 2010 index, Mongolia was ranked 116th place out of 178 countries and 120th place out of 182 countries in 2011.
In the CPI for this year, Denmark, Finland and New Zealand were ranked at 1st places with scores of 90, whereas Afghanistan, the DPRK and Somalia were ranked in the bottom of the index.
The CPI scores countries on a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean). While no country has a perfect score, two-thirds of countries score below 50, indicating a serious corruption problem.
