Counter-DAESH working group convened second meeting in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 28th May, 2015 (WAM) -- The UAE and Germany yesterday co-chaired the second meeting of the working group on stabilisation of the global coalition against DAESH at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi.
Representatives from Iraq and 28 countries and multilateral organisations met to discuss specific areas where the coalition can support the Iraqi Government’s efforts to provide security and access to public services in areas liberated from DAESH.
Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, opened the meeting and emphasised the working group's strong support for Iraq in this critical phase. Faris Al Mazrouei, Assistant Foreign Minister for Security and Military Affairs, and Dr. Clemens von Goetze, Director-General for Africa, Asia, Latin America, Near and Middle East of the German Federal Foreign Office, co-chaired the working sessions of the meeting.
The working group on stabilisation is one of five coalition working groups that are coordinating specific coalition activities, including military support, counter-finance, counter-messaging, and efforts to stem the flow of foreign fighters.
In addition to co-chairs Germany and the UAE, membership in the working group includes: Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, France, Greece, Iceland, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Kuwait, Latvia, Luxembourg, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Arab League, EU and United Nations.
