DPRK's Nuclear Deterrent Is Natural Outcome: KCNA Commentary

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Perry at a recent interview confessed that Washington had planned an air strike at the Nyongbyon nuclear complex of the DPRK in 1994. This means that the U.S. has long attempted to carry out its scenario for a preemptive attack upon the DPRK. The U.S. has spurred its preparations for a nuclear war against the DPRK, watching for a chance of invasion. It massively brought strategic nuclear war hardware to its bases in south Korea from its mainland and other overseas military bases, which is totally aimed to provoke a nuclear war against the DPRK, not to merely irritate it. To cope with the nuclear threat coming from the U.S, the DPRK has bolstered up its defence capabilities with the nuclear deterrent as a pivot under the banner of Songun(army-first). It equipped itself with nuclear deterrent and strategic and tactical rocket forces, and Washington's attempt for strike at Pyongyang resulted in making the latter being capable of striking the U.S. mainland. By dint of the Songun policy and the powerful nuclear deterrence, the DPRK firmly defended its destiny and dignity despite the outsiders' intervention and aggression moves and all challenges against reunification.
