EAEU to discuss economic policy responses to COVID-19

MOSCOW, 10 April (BelTA) – The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will discuss ways to maintain economic stability amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting will be held via videoconferencing on 10 April, BelTA has learned. “There are plans to approve the measures taken in the Eurasian Economic Union to maintain economic stability amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Members of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will also discuss strategic areas of the Eurasian economic integration through 2025,” the Eurasian Economic Commission said. The participants of the meeting will also study approaches to regulating the duty-free importation of goods for personal use in international e-commerce, and also the initiative to transfer import duties in national currencies between the member states of the union. Initially the meeting of the prime ministers of the EAEU member states was to take place in Minsk.
