Egyptian Orthodox Cathedral: UAE represents a model of fraternity and communication among all religions

ABU DHABI, 8th January, 2016 (WAM) -- Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, has reiterated that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is representing a model of fraternity and communication among all religions, hailing its permanent keenness to achieve good, peace and prosperity not only for the country's residents, but for the Arab world and the region as a whole. Sheikh Nahyan made the statement at the Saint Anthony Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abu Dhabi last night on the occasion of the celebration of the Orthodox Christmas. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohammed Mattar Al Kaabi, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Counsellor Al Sayed Ali Al Hashimi, Religious and Judicial Adviser at the Ministry for Presidential Affairs, and Wael El Sayed Mohammed Gad, Ambassador of Egypt, along with representatives from the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and the Court of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the Reverend Anthony Michael and the Reverend Bishoy Fakhri, Pastors of the Cathedral Church in Abu Dhabi, and a delegation of Egyptian businessmen. The event was also attended by a number of officials, Islamic scholars, heads and members of Christian communities and members of the Egyptian Embassy and others.
