Emirates Red Crescent provides food, medical aid to thousands of Yemeni families

ABU DHABI, 27th December 2015 (WAM) --- The Emirates Red Crescent has delivered food aid to thousands of Yemeni families in Hasween district and a new shipment of medical equipment and medicines to the Al Faidha Hospital in Al Mahrah Governorate, east of Yemen, as part of the UAE's humanitarian response to the crisis in the country. In a statement, the UAE's humanitarian agency said 3266 families received packages of essential foods as part of continuous efforts to strengthen food security in the areas bearing the brunt of the crisis. Undersecretary of the Governorate of Al Mahrah, Salim Mohammed Al Abbodi, and Director-General of the governorate's health and population office, Ahmed Mohammed Afrir, took delivery of the medical aid aimed at improving the hospital's services. Al Abbodi praised the leaders of the UAE for working towards alleviating the suffering of Yemeni people facing severe humanitarian challenges. He added that the Emirates Red Crescent's operations in the south has strengthened the population in these emergency circumstances. Beneficiaries of the UAE's latest food assistance in Hasween District thanked the UAE for supporting them.
