EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian arrives in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Nov. 11, 2019. / Kabar /. Special Representative of the European Union (EU) for Central Asia, Ambassador Peter Burian, has arrived in Kyrgyzstan. During the two-day trip, Ambassador Burian will take part in Bishkek in the High-Level Forum “Accelerating Reforms for Sustainable Development”, the press office of the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic reported. Besides, as part of his visit, Ambassador Burian plans to meet with First Deputy Prime Minister ofKyrgyzstan Kubatbek Boronov, the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Presidential Administration. The EU Special Representative will discuss bilateral cooperation with partners from Kyrgyzstan, including further steps following the recent visit of the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini, as well as program support provided by Kyrgyzstan from the EU, including projects for the rehabilitation of uranium tailings and access to clean drinking water. The parties will discuss topical issues of regional cooperation between the EU and Central Asia and the implementation of the recently adopted new EU Strategy for Central Asia. In addition to formal meetings, Ambassador Burian will meet with local civil society representatives.
