FM: Azerbaijan does not want new seats of conflicts in region

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec.30 / Trend, A.Badalova / Azerbaijan does not want new seats of conflicts in the region, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said in an interview with the Azerbaijani and foreign media outlets on Sunday. "We do not want any new seats of conflicts in the region, and we support addressing of all existing differences peacefully, through negotiations," Mammadyarov said. He said a number of foreign media outlets periodically disseminate groundless, untrue information on possible resolution of the "Iranian problem" by force and intentions of Israel or other countries to use Azerbaijan's territory during the anti-Iranian military campaign. According to Mammadyarov, the Foreign Ministry and relevant agencies refuted such kind of reports. "We have repeatedly stated that Azerbaijan will not allow its territory to be used against Iran. Azerbaijan is an independent country, which pursues peace-making foreign policy to ensure its interests. And this policy is based on mutual respect and trust towards to all the neighboring countries, except Armenia," Mammadyarov said. U.S., other Western countries, and Israel suspect Iran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of peaceful nuclear energy program. Tehran denies the charges, saying its nuclear program is for civilian purposes. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
