FM Discusses Syria On Phone With Three Counterparts

Tehran, Sept 4, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif has discussed situation in Syria on separate phone conversations with his counterparts from the Netherlands, Ireland and Indonesia. While talking to his Dutch and Irish counterparts, Zarif stressed the need for adopting diplomatic solutions for the Syrian crisis and also rejected any kind of indulging in violent ways, a statement by the Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the foreign minister of Indonesia underlined the necessity of showing democratic behavior as the only way out of Syrian crisis . Zarif, for his part, condemned the use of chemical weapons by any party and in any way and also criticized those countries that were seeking war in the region regardless of its consequences. He also warned against the unfavorable impact of such attitudes on the overall security in the region and hoped that international community would focus on working out political solutions to the problems in Syria./end
