FNC Secretary General wins Arab Parliamentary Excellence Award

Kuwait: April 9, 2013 (WAM) - The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) has awarded Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrouie, Secretary General of the Federal National Council (FNC), the Arab Parliamentary Excellence Award in tribute to his significant services and contribution to the parliamentary movement in the UAE and Arab World. The announcement was made yesterday during the 19th AIPU conference which is being hosted by Kuwait from April 7 -10. In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Mazrouie said:'' The honour is not meant for me personally, rather it is for the UAE and for the FNC. The Award is a tribute to the FNC for its active role and distinguished contributions and initiatives at the Arab, Islamic and international parliamentary unions.'' Al Mazrouie stressed that the Council enjoys great respect and appreciation for its outstanding role in parliamentary work. Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Shaheen, FNC member, said the accolade was awarded to Al Mazrouie for the first time at the Arab level in recognition of his significant services to the AIPU and of his tremendous contributions for the development of the FNC's general secretariat. ''The award is another feather in the UAE's cap,'' he added His remarkable technical and technological efforts led the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to name the FNC general secretariat as one of the world's seven best bodies. A holder of PhD on political science, Al Mazrouie is also member of associations of secretaries general of Arab, GCC and international parliaments. He authored several studies and books including the '' Political Development in the GCC'' and the ''FNC : The Past Experiment and Future Outlook''. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
