FNC Speaker, GRULAC President condemn terrorism; say injustice, double standards fuel the global scourge

HANOI, 2nd April 2015 (WAM) --- Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), and Roberto Leon, President of the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC), a United Nations regional group, have expressed their condemnation and total rejection of terrorism, extremism and all terrorist acts regardless of their names, motives or goals.
Al Mur and Leon also emphasised that terrorism is not associated with any particular religion, culture, group, gender, nationality or geographical territory.
During their talks on the sidelines of the meetings of the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in the Vietnamese capital, the FNC speaker and the GRULAC president stressed that terrorism is a global scourge that is fuelled by injustice, unfair solutions to regional and international conflicts, double standards in enforcing international law and international legitimacy, as well as the use of force in international relations.
The two parties also stressed that they have common principles and foundations to build on. These include combating extremism and terrorism, promoting international peace, security and cooperation, respecting human rights, upholding the principles and goals of the United Nations including the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs and national sovereignty of other states.
They discussed the issue of the three UAE islands, Abu Musa and Greater and Lesser Tunbs which are occupied by Iran.
Al Mur noted that the UAE demands a peaceful and just solution to the issue.
Leon noted that it is important to solve this issue through dialogue, which, he said, is the approach pursued by GRULAC. – Emirates News Agency, WAM –
