Foreign Ministry Urges Quick Release Of Iranians Kidnapped In Syria

Tehran, Oct 6, IRNA – Iran's Foreign Ministry urged international bodies to make all-out efforts to help quick release of the defenseless Iranian nationals kidnapped in Syria. The ministry's spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said using the defenseless pilgrims as a human shield is against the human rights regulations. Mehmanparast said the abductors, who are from a certain group, and their supporters are responsible for the lives of the abductees. The Islamic Republic of Iran calls on the international organizations to strongly prevent repetition of such anti-human measures, said the Iranian official. On August 4, 2012, 48 Iranians were abducted in the vicinity of Damascus, Syria, by the Syrian opposition group of Free Syrian Army. Two days ago, the abductors, in a video footage, warned that they would kill the Iranian pilgrims within next 48 hours./end
