G20's Mexico meeting of finance ministers, c.bank heads ends
MEXICO CITY (A.A) - February 27, 2012 - A meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of the G20 member countries in Mexico City ended Sunday as Turkey was represented in the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan and C.Bank Governor Erdem Basci.
Babacan exchanged his views on the risks that the global economy faced as well as Turkey's latest achievements in its economic performance and their reasons.
Babacan held a series of bilateral talks on the sidelines of the meetings as he met with U.S. Secretary of Treasury Tim Geithner, European Commission Vice President Olli Rehn, Spanish Economy and Competition Minister Luis de Guindos Jurado, China's Central Bank Governor Xiaochuan Zhou, Chile's Finance Minister Felipe Marrain, OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria and IMF President Cristine Lagarde.
Sources close to the meeting said Babacan highlighted the importance of the implementation of the IMF quota reform and urged the G20 countries to fulfill their commitments on this issue.
Babacan, the Turkish central bank governor and accompanying Turkish delegation departed from Mexico after the conclusion of the G20 meeting.
