Georgia’s President against armenization of country's foreign policy

Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 1 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia / President of Georgia is against armenization of country's foreign policy. To prevent this, there is a need for amendments to the Constitution of Georgia, which were presented by the United National Movement party, Georgian leader Mikheil Saakashvili stated while visiting Delta military enterprise on Friday. The proposed amendments provide for consolidation of the current foreign policy of Georgia at the constitutional level. "Why is the question of introduction of alteration is on today's agenda again? Because following the change of power in Georgia as a result of parliamentary elections, the new government has made significant statements. One of the statements concern the issue of armenizing Georgia's foreign policy, and, particularly, necessity of maintenance of an equal distance in relations with NATO and Russia. Earlier, this wasn't the direction of Georgia's foreign policy," the president said. Saakashvili also touched on the issue of the possible commissioning of the railway through Abkhazia. "Yerevan is discussing the technical details of recovery of Abkhazian section of Georgia's railway. This will be the legalization of occupation," the president of Georgia said.
