German-Based Peace Group Urges Ashton To step Up Iran Diplomacy

Berlin, Nov 22, IRNA -- A Berlin-based peace organization on Monday called on European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton to boost her diplomatic efforts to end the impasse over Iran's nuclear program.
The German section of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) urged Ashton in a statement to launch a 'comprehensive' diplomatic initiative on Iran.
IPPNW stressed that the US, Russia, China and the Arab League should also be included in the major diplomatic campaign aimed at settling the Iranian nuclear conflict.
The peace group has in the past lashed out at anti-Iran resolutions in the UN, labeling it 'wrong.'
IPPNW had pointed out that the UN resolutions against Tehran would only further escalate the situation and lead ultimately to the collapse of talks between the West and Iran.
Iran has earlier criticized Ashton for not being serious on having negotiations with Tehran.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly called for unconditional talks with the West but has also made clear it would not waiver its right to enrichment uranium./end
