IDEX leads UAE participation at major defence exhibition in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Jeneiro, April 10, 2013 (WAM) - The International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) this week is leading UAE participation at the LAAD Defence and Security International Exhibition held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Using its many years of experience in defence and maritime events, IDEX is organising the UAE pavilion which brings together 15 UAE firms including Tawazun, Sofia Trading, Emirates Advanced Investments Group (EAI) and Advanced Integrated System (AIS) and supports companies to promote their products and technologies on the global markets and facilitates business opportunities with multi-national defence and security organisations. LAAD is a four-day biennial event taking place this year from April 9th - 12th. LAAD attracts some of the largest defence companies from around the world and IDEX's role at the event comes as part of its extensive outreach program and global marketing strategy. LAAD is the largest defence forum in Latin America and an important opportunity to promote IDEX as the leading defence exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa. "The LAAD Defence '&' Security Exhibition is quite simply the most important defence gathering in Latin America. Taking part in this year's event has been incredibly productive and our attendance comes as part of our wider approach to strategically position IDEX as one of the top defence exhibition organisers in the world," said Saleh Al Marzooqi, IDEX Director. "IDEX 2013 was an overwhelming success. More so than ever before, the exhibition reached out to a truly global audience. Fostering strategic relationships with our international counterparts is essential to cement IDEX's position as one of the most significant events in the defence calendar. This is precisely the opportunity presented by LAAD." IDEX will next take place in 2015. Over 50% of space at IDEX 2015 was leased before the conclusion of IDEX 2013 in February. IDEX 2013 hosted 1,112 exhibiting companies from 59 countries and over 80,000 visitors. It was the largest IDEX since the exhibition began two decades ago. Running alongside IDEX 2013 was the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX), which doubled in size since its inception with over 80 exhibitors participating in 2013. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
