Int’l Media Report Extensively On Iran Rallies

Tehran, Feb 12, IRNA --- International media extensively reported massive rallies held around Iran on Saturday to celebrate 33rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution. They also gave a considerable coverage to the speech made by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressing millions of people gathered in the huge Azadi (Freedom) Square in Tehran The French News Agency, Agence France-Presse (AFP), in its report said President Ahmadinejad announced that ‘some nuclear achievements’ will be unveiled in the next few days. AFP also quoted Ahmadinejad saying Iranian nation will never surrender to the western sanctions and US –Israeli threats. According to AFP, millions of people in Tehran welcomed President Ahmadinejad’s remarks by shouting slogans against the US and the Zionist regime. AFP also highlighted parts of Ahmadinejad’s speech in which he said the US and west invented the ‘myth of the Holocaust’ so that they can create Israel to rule the world. According to AFP, Prime Minister of Palestine Ismail Hanyieh, who was standing next to President Ahmadinejad, told the audience that Hamas will never recognize Israel. AFP also said that the US drone replica was displayed in Tehran. The RQ-170 Sentinel was brought down in Iran after being hacked as it overflew Iran’s territory in December on an espionage mission. Turkish media also covered extensively Saturday demonstrations in Iran to support the Islamic revolution. Mellyiet News Network, the television network NTV and many other news websites in Turkey said that millions of people in Iran, while carrying pictures of Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Khamenei, rallied in the streets of Tehran and many other cities and towns of Iran to show their support for the Islamic revolution. BBC from London reported that President Ahmadinejad told the audience Iran will never yield to the language of bullying and any policy except the policy of cooperation with Iran is defeated. Voice of Germany, Deutsche Welle, reported that President Ahmadinejad vowed to inaugurate ‘important nuclear projects’ within days adding that Iran will be one of the best in the world in certain scientific fields. The Russian News Agency ‘Ria Novosti’ also reported that hundreds of thousands of people in Tehran from the early hours of Saturday morning started to walk toward the huge Azadi (Freedom) Square. They carried pictures of Ayatollah Khamenei and shouted slogans against US and Israel. Ria Novosti’s reporter also covered the speech of President Ahmadinejad.
