Iran’s ambassador to Azerbaijan clarifies diplomat’s detention

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 27 By Temkin Jafarov - Trend: Iran's ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pakayin has thanked the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry for assistance in the rapid settlement of a problem with responsible member of the Finance Office at the Cultural Center under Iran's embassy in Azerbaijan Ahmad Ahmadzade. The State Migration Service members did not know about the need to apply to the Foreign Ministry in connection with the fact that Ahmadzade is a diplomat or has an official passport, ambassador told journalists on Wednesday. According to Pakayin, the note, delivered by Iran to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, has been connected with the actions of the State Migration Service members towards the diplomat. Ahmadzade was arrested by members of the Azerbaijani State Migration Service on November 19 in connection with the visa expiration. Ahmadzade was released an hour later after the arrest as a result of the negotiations with the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and its efforts. Ahmadzade returned to Tehran on November 21 at the request of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in connection with the visa expiration.
