Iran calls for emergency meeting of al-Quds Committee

TEHRAN, Jan. 5 (MNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to convene an emergency meeting of the al-Quds Committee as the Knesset has declared al-Quds the capital of the Zionist regime. In his message addressed to OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on Wednesday, Salehi said this blatant act by the Zionists is an infringement of the Palestinians' undeniable rights and an overt violation of the international rights. He also decried the silence of superpowers and their reluctance to react against the Zionists' conspiracy. Salehi expressed his appreciation, gratitude and support for the organization's statement in condemning this decision. He added that the OIC stance toward this issue has met the expectations of all its members. He concluded that the Islamic Republic backs any more strong reaction against this shameful act.
