Iran Defense Minister Proposes Establishing Islamic Military Organization

Tehran, Jan 27, IRNA -- Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi has proposed establishing a military organization comprising armed forces of the Islamic states to defend the oppressed across the world. Addressing a gathering of Quran reciters and memorizers of the armed forces of the Islamic states, he added that Muslims are duty-bound to support Palestine. ˈIranˈs priority is to defend the oppressed standing up to the aggressors in cooperation with other Muslim states,ˈ he said. Islamic states should not be third-grade power in the world; rather they should turn into a strong power in the world and do not allow any aggressor to think about attacking Islamic states, he said. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of an exhibition featuring the ministryˈs achievements and capabilities, he added that dialogue is the only solution to the Syrian crisis and any foreign interference should be stopped. Overt and covert interferences have caused the current problems for Arab state, Vahidi said, noting that Iran has always adopted logical stance on the issue./end
