Iran FM Confers With Iraqi Acting President

Baghdad, Sept 9, IRNA – Visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif conferred with the Iraqi acting president Khazir Al-Khazai here Sunday. During the meeting, Zarif conveyed the warm greetings of the Iranian President Hassan Rohani to the official and thanked him for taking part in the president’s oath-taking ceremony in Tehran. Zarif arrived in Baghdad this morning on a day-long visit during which he is to discuss major bilateral, regional and international developments, particularly the situation in Syria, with senior Iraqi officials. This is Zarif’s first visit to a foreign country in his new capacity as foreign minister. Earlier in the day, he discussed issues of mutual interest with Prime Minister of Iraq Nuri al-Maliki./end
