Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said here on Thursday that Iran hopes to reach the final point of the agreement in the near future with the US realism. Amirabdollahian made the remarks during a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov here on Thursday. Referring to the good meeting between the two sides, Amirabdollahian said that they had discussed the most important issues of mutual ties, as well as regional and international issues. Pointing to the comprehensive and long-term cooperation treaty between Iran and Russia, he added that the aforementioned idea had been discussed before the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Moscow. He also expressed hope that expert meetings would be held soon to finalize the content of the agreement and ratify it in both countries' governments and parliaments. Referring to the signing of the document on cultural cooperation and information security, the Iranian top diplomat noted that those documents were approved by the Iranian Government and sent to Majlis (the Parliament) for final approval recently. Amirabdollahian stressed that the two sides agreed to hold a new round of joint commission on the cooperation, adding that the cooperation in economy, trade, culture, science, technology, etc. are on the agenda of the two sides. Pointing to the mutual cooperation on the Rasht-Astara railway with Russia, he expressed hope that they would finalize the project as soon as possible with a joint investment. Referring to the bilateral cooperation between the two states in the field of visa waiver between Iran and Russia, Amirabdollahian stated that Iran is ready to reciprocate public visa waiving, adding that they discussed waiving trade visas in the first step to increase trade exchanges between the two states. Referring to the trilateral meeting between Iran, Russia, and Turkey in the framework of Astana Talks, he expressed hope for holding the meeting in Tehran soon. Amirabdollahian stressed the two sides also discussed developments in Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, and Ukraine, as well as holding summits of countries in the Caspian Sea. Speaking about the Vienna talks, he underscored that the latest situation of the talks in Vienna to lift sanctions against Iran was among the topics that were discussed in today's meeting. He thanked Russia and China for their opposition to the resolution proposed by the US and the three European countries at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Referring to Russia's support for Iran in the Vienna talks, he added that Iran hopes to reach a final point in Vienna Talks in the near future with US realism. He also ponied to the Ukraine crisis, stressing that he has twice carried the message of the Foreign Minister of Ukraine to the Russian Foreign Minister, who in both cases, the Russian side expressed its readiness for dialogue and diplomatic solution. Iran hopes to see the return of the two sides to negotiations and a political solution to the Ukraine crisis, Amirabdollahian further noted. Referring to the attempts made by the Zionist regime in the region, he added that they will not allow the Zionist regime to threaten the security, stability, and progress of the region. In response to the question about Iran's solution to the unilateral sanctions, he noted that Iran follows two parallel ways; one of them is based on the framework of President Raisi’s government's sustainable economic development plan and the other one is diplomatic talks for lifting the sanctions. Referring to efforts to return to the Vienna talks, Amirabdollahian stressed that the opposing parties, specifically the US and European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and Enrique Mora, continue their efforts to return all parties to the negotiations, adding that in the past few hours, the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Deputy for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani has been in constant contact with Mora, adding that Iran hopes all parties to return to the talks. He reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is serious about reaching a good, strong, and lasting agreement and will continue the path of diplomacy, which is the right one. He once again invited the US to behave realistically for reaching the final stage of the negotiations. The Russian foreign minister, for his part, said trade between Iran and Russia boosted by 80 percent last year to about $4 billion. He added that Iran and Russia need to find ways to enhance ties in the energy, transportation, agriculture, finance, and customs fields, noting that Russia cooperates with Iran on the Bushehr power plant's second and third phases. Referring to the Syria issue, he emphasizes the need for Israel to respect Syrian sovereignty and investigate the attack on Damascus airport at the United Nations. As for the JCPOA, Lavrov said that when the US withdrew from the JCPOA and the UN resolution, it once again violated international law, he underscored. He said that they need to revive the JCPOA in the same format as it was in 2015 without any changes, adding that all illegal sanctions against Iran that violate the JCPOA, must be lifted. Lavrov expressed hope that the US make its sensible choice. As to Ukraine, he pointed out that the West and the US are trying to make Ukraine a base to threaten Russian soil. Lavrov also noted that the Russian Federation and Putin repeatedly explained that Russia had no other choice but to secure the interests of the Russian and Donbas people. He went on to say that there is no relation between Russia's special operations in Ukraine and the food security crisis and everyone knows the crisis and its consequences were created a few years ago.
