Iran Not Concerned About Borders With Iraq: Commander

Tehran, June 15, IRNA – Iran is not concerned over its borders with Iraq regarding the terrorist activities of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group known as Daesh, Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari said on Sunday. Making the remarks in a local ceremony, he said any type of aggression against Iranˈs western borders by ISIL is unlikely. Ashtari also asserted that Iranian forces have intensified security measures along the countryˈs western borders with Iraq in a bid to prepare for any unexpected conditions. On Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned of Iranˈs tough confrontation with the ISIL or any other terrorist group which might come close to the Iranian borders./end
