Iran releases two Kuwaiti nationals
TEHRAN, Dec.19 (MNA) – Iranian ambassador to Kuwait said that two Kuwaiti nationals, who had been arrested on charges of illegal entry, were released on Saturday.
Ambassador Ruhollah Qahremani made the remarks during an interview , which was published on Sunday.
The two Kuwait nationals were arrested in Abadan, a city in the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan, on November 11.
He said that the men had illegally worked as journalists and had recorded a television interview in Iran while travelling on tourist visas which is in contravention of Iran’s law.
They had to apply for journalists visas to be allowed to work as journalists, thus they were interrogated over their suspicious moves, he said.
Qahremani also dismissed the claims made by a number of Iranian officials who had mistakenly said that the two Kuwaiti nationals had been arrested on charges of espionage.
