Iran respects Russian people’s votes

TEHRAN,Dec.14(MNA)--On Iran’s stance toward the protests in Russia over alleged vote rigging, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast said, “The people turned out in great numbers in the elections. We respect the opinion and votes of the Russian people, and respect whatever they choose.” Parliamentary elections were held in Russia on December 4. He also commented on the interventionist remarks that a number of Western officials have recently made on protests in Russia and said, “The fact that certain Western countries, particularly the U.S., are in the habit of interfering in all internal affairs of other countries is not acceptable. It would be better if the Americans and the Western countries care about their own internal problems and find a way out of them.”
