Iran`s Jamaran destroyer saves another Iranian tanker from pirate attack

TEHRAN, Nov. 9 (MNA) – Deputy Navy Commander Mahmoud Mousavi announced on Tuesday that an attempt by pirates to hijack another Iranian tanker was foiled by the Jamaran destroyer during its first mission in international waters. Iranian commandoes rescued the tanker, which was sailing through the Red Sea, when it came under attack by two pirate ships. In late October, the Jamaran destroyer rescued another Iranian tanker, which was bound for the Gulf of Aden. The Iranian Navy’s 16th fleet of warships, comprised of the Jamaran destroyer and the Bandar Abbas gunboat, set sail for the north of the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden on October, 9.
