IRGC takes delivery of anti-aircraft artillery systems

TEHRAN, Nov. 30 (MNA) – Domestically manufactured anti-aircraft artillery systems were delivered to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Division during a ceremony on Tuesday with the participation of Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi and IRGC Aerospace Division Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh. The Saeer anti-aircraft artillery systems have been designed and manufactured by Iranian engineers at the Defense Industries Organization. “The anti-aircraft artillery system provides good artillery coverage at low and medium altitudes,” Vahidi said during the ceremony. The systems are designed to operate automatically using advanced radar systems and can target hostile aircraft more precisely compared with their predecessors, he explained. He also expressed hope that the delivery of the systems to the IRGC could help improve the defense capability of the country. In addition, he said that the Defense Ministry plans to enhance and upgrade air defense systems, which are being manufactured in Iran. Elsewhere in his remarks, Vahidi thanked engineers and experts, who work for the Defense Industries Organization, and said that military equipment and systems including missiles, weapons, military vehicles, and artillery systems, which are being produced in Iran, have enabled Iranian military forces to defend the country more efficiently without reliance on foreign countries. On November 23, the Defense Ministry also delivered domestically manufactured coast-to-sea missile systems to the Iranian Navy. The missile systems are equipped with rotating launchers, which will enable naval forces to control a wider range, and the fact that the systems are connected through an integrated communications network makes it possible for defense units to simultaneously track and intercept several targets.
