Japan, Kazakhstan to Cooperate for U.N. Sanctions on N. Korea

Tokyo, Nov. 8 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on Tuesday agreed that their countries will cooperate to have the U.N. Security Council adopt a resolution to impose fresh sanctions against North Korea for its repeated nuclear and missile tests. Their agreement, made in a meeting in Tokyo, comes as Kazakhstan is set to serve as a nonpermanent Security Council member starting in 2017. Referring to Nazarbayev's planned visit on Wednesday to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in western Japan, Kishida said it will be a chance to show the two countries' close cooperation in nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation efforts.
