Kazakhstan, OSCE discuss problems facing ethnic minorities

The meeting of the Kazakh Ambassador to the Kingdom of Netherlands, Mainyura Murzamadiyeva, with representatives of the office of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM), led by the new High Commissioner Astrid Thors, was held in the Hague, the press service of Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
During the meeting, the Kazakh diplomat familiarized the interlocutors in detail with the present stage of development of Kazakh society, the long-term priorities of the country's leadership on ensuring the political stability and consolidation of multi-ethnic and multi-confessional Kazakhstan.
Astrid Thors' possible visit to Astana was discussed during the meeting.
The meeting also discussed the format of the further cooperation of the HCNM office in Kazakhstan in 2014, the widespread introduction of the multilingual education model in Kazakhstan and holding of joint seminars, round tables and issue of joint publications in Kazakhstan and the Netherlands.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed on the need to continue further fruitful reciprocal action and deepen cooperation in strengthening inter-ethnic, inter-confessional and inter-religious peace and harmony in the OSCE area.
