Kyrgyz deputy FM and ambassador of Iceland discuss prospects of bilateral cooperation

Bishkek, Feb. 13, 2020 / Kabar /. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Azizbek Madmarov received new Ambassador of Iceland to the Kyrgyz Republic Sigridur Asgeirsdottir. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the main purpose of the meeting was the presentation of copies of Credentials by Ambassador Asgeirsdottir, discussion of the prospects of bilateral cooperation, including interaction within the framework of international organizations. The deputy minister expressed the hope that the accreditation of Asgeirsdottir will serve as the beginning of political relations and further intensification of bilateral cooperation on issues of mutual interest. Ambassador Asgeirsdottir highly appreciated the investment potential of Kyrgyzstan and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in implementing joint projects with Kyrgyzstan aimed at building hydropower facilities as measures to protect the environment and develop the sphere of renewable energy sources. The parties agreed that the intensification of political cooperation would provide broad opportunities for the formation of a long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation platform, to create favorable conditions for wider legal interaction and would give an impetus to many other areas of cooperation.
