Kyrgyz Parliament speaker, EEC head discuss enhanced co-op within EAEU

Bishkek, Feb.4, 2020. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov met with Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mikhail Myasnikovich.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of expanding cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), as well as ways to eliminate barriers to economic integration, the press service of the Parliament said.
Dzhumabekov congratulated Myasnikovich on his appointment as EEC Board Chairman, and wished success in this important position.
The Kyrgyz speaker noted continued successful cooperation within the EAEU is a priority for Kyrgyzstan.
"We make efforts to improve trade and economic relations, which is a common goal of the Union, but at the same time we take into account the interests of each member state of this association.
As a member of the EAEC, Kyrgyzstan, having regard to all existing requirements, pays particular attention to strengthening close ties with other member states of the Union,” Dzhumabekov said.
Chairman Myasnikovich, thanking the Kyrgyz speaker for warm welcome, said he will make every effort to develop the EAEU.
"Despite the fact that the main interest of the EAEU is the development of economic relations, we must also strengthen parliamentary ties. There is need to build active inter-parliamentary cooperation among the EAEU member states," he concluded.
At the invitation of Kyrgyz Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, new Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mikhail Myasnikovich has arrived on Tuesday in Bishkek for his first official foreign visit.
As part of the visit, meetings with Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov and PM Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev are scheduled, the Government's press service said.
During the meetings, it is planned to discuss strategic directions for the Eurasian Economic Integration development until 2025, approaches to elimination of existing barriers, exemptions and limitations on the market of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), as well as issues, related to the implementation of coordinated policy and harmonization of legislation of the EAEU member states in a number of areas of economic activity.
