Kyrgyzstan, Turkey discuss energy and subsoil use co-op issues

Bishkek, Feb.5, 2020. /Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Turkey Kubanychbek Omuraliyev met on Monday with Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez. According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, during the meeting the sides discussed current relations and opportunities for cooperation in the sphere of energy and subsoil use. Taking into account Turkey's extensive experience in the mentioned spheres, Ambassador Omuraliyev suggested Minister Dönmez to consider Kyrgyz investment projects in energy and natural resources for possible participation of Turkish public and private companies. The sides agreed that Turkey’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources will familiarize Turkish companies with Kyrgyz projects on construction of HPPs and development of deposits, which may result in the visit of the Turkish delegation to Kyrgyzstan for detailed talks.. In order to attract investment in the energy sector, the Kyrgyz ambassador informed Dönmez about the energy potential and opportunities for exporting electricity from Kyrgyzstan to other countries in the region. In particular, he noted that after the completion of the CASA-1000 project, Kyrgyzstan will be able to export HPP-produced electricity to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. Kubanychbek Omuraliyev also told about Kyrgyzstan's potential in the sphere of subsoil use and investment opportunities, business conditions (low taxes and costs of doing business) and foreign trade turnover of the country. Omuraliyev also invited Turkish companies in the field of energy and subsoil use to participate in the Kyrgyz-Turkish Business Forum, to be held in summer of 2020 in Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul Oblast.
