Lavrov to meet with representatives of Syrian opposition on August 31 - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW, August 27. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with a number of Syrian opposition politicians on August 31, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday. "On August 31, the minister will receive one of the leaders of the Popular Front for Change and Liberation Qadri Jamil, general coordinator of the National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change [in Syria] Hassan Abdul Azim and other representatives of the group to oversee the implementation of decisions of the inter-Syrian consultative contacts in Moscow," the diplomat said. "The meeting is organized in line with our efforts to accelerate the beginning of the Syrian political process on the basis of the provisions of the Geneva Communique of June 30, 2012," Zakharova said.
