Lebanese PM: Iran’s Role In Maintaining Regional Stability Vital

Beirut, Jan 17, IRNA - Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Monday said Iran plays a vital and constructive role in maintaining the stability of the region. He made the remark in a meeting with the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini. Underling the importance of stability in the region, Mikati stressed Iran’s role in maintaining regional peace and stability. He praised Iran’s struggle for proximity of religions and said all should focus on commonalities and ignore minor differences. The Lebanese prime minister voiced his country’s readiness to strengthen mutual relations and said that since culture is an important part of mutual relations, Lebanon is ready to boost mutual cultural relations with Iran. Hosseini said Iran attaches importance to cultural and artistic relations with Lebanon and does its best to finalize signing of a cultural agreement with it. He expressed Iran’s readiness to cooperate with Lebanon in different artistic and cultural fields and welcomed Lebanese artists willing to hold art exhibitions in Iran. Both sides reviewed ways of expanding ties and implementing cultural agreements reached between the two countries. Hosseini is in Lebanon to participate in the First Conference on Islam and Christianity in Beirut./end
