Lebanon Leader: Mounting Threats Against Iran Serve Zionists Goals

Beirut, Jan 9, IRNA – Chairman of Lebanon's Harakat al-Tawhid al-Islami (or Islamic Unity Movement) Sheikh Hashim Minkara said on Sunday that the West's mounting threats against Iran and its sanctions on the oil sector serves the goals of the Zionist regime. In reaction to anti-Iran statement of US President Barrack Obama, Sheikh Minkara said that escalation of US threats to Iran stems from Iran's refusal to accept demands of the western governments and its support for Palestinian resistance movement to Israeli occupation. He said that the US administration is pursuing interventionist goals in the Middle East and is interfering in domestic affairs of the regional countries. 'We warn the US government of the adverse consequences of its interventionist policies in the Middle East,' Sheikh Minkara said. He said that the Islamic resistance movement in the region is in a position to have the final say in the region and will defend the interests of the Islamic Ummah vis-à-vis the western clouts. Sheikh Minkara pointed to Israeli attempt to Judaize Qods al-Sharif and said that the Tel Aviv regime is exploiting the current circumstances for its interests. He said that the Muslim nations must not neglect the conspiracies of the Tel Aviv regime and the current regional developments must not divert attention of the Islamic Ummah from the measures taken by the Zionist regime against the Palestinians and the sanctity of the Occupied territories./end
