Lebanon says Iran playing ‘constructive’ role in regional security

TEHRAN, May 16 (MNA) - Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour said that Iran plays a constructive role in promoting security in the region. Mansour made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi in Beirut, news reports said on Tuesday. Iran plays a “positive” and “constructive” role in promoting stability and security in the region, the Lebanese foreign minister stated. Mansour also commented on the trip that Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi made to Lebanon on May 2 and 3, describing it as “successful”. Lebanon is in need of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s supports and is keen to use the country’s potential in various spheres, he added. The minister added that Lebanese officials have great respect for the Iranian people. Elsewhere in his remarks, the Lebanese official spoke about the developments occurring in the region and called on regional countries to remain vigilant in the face of the plots hatched by the Zionist regime. Ambassador Roknabadi said that Tehran is ready to share its experiences with Beirut. He also commented on certain Western countries’ conspiracies against the Islamic Republic, saying that they have failed in their efforts. The developments taking place in the region will help serve the interests of Muslim nations.
