Lubna Al Qasimi, Alan Duncan discuss UAE-UK cooperation on humanitarian work

London: Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Co-operation has met with Alan Duncan, British Minister of State for International Development, in London on the fringe of 7th meeting of Friends of Yemen forum.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of furthering cooperation between UAE and UK on international development and the two countries' humanitarian response to crises and disasters around the world.
In her remarks at the meeting, Sheikha Lubna reiterated UAE's interest in promoting international efforts to boost development in all areas in developing countries and poor communities in light of the directives of the country's leadership which enabled UAE to achieve the first position globally as the most generous donor of official development assistance (ODA) in 2013 according to Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The two sides also discussed the issue of Syrian refugees and the efforts being made by the two countries to help host couturiers as well as to provide development and relief aid to Yemen and other countries.
On his part, Minister Duncan valued the historic and strong relations between UAE and UK, and UAE's efforts to positively and effectively respond to humanitarian crises and to boost international development. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – Read more:
