Lubna, British official discuss cooperation

Abu Dhabi (WAM): Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Co-operation and Chancellor of Zayed University, received yesterday at the Ministry, British Secretary of State for International Development, Alan Duncan and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they discussed mechanisms of enhancing partnership and cooperation. Sheikha Lubna and Duncan reviewed the two countries' support to the international development, and how best to alleviate humanitarian crisis, particularly in Syrian. Sheikha Lubna underscored the importance of concerted international efforts to address the Syrian refugees crisis, which is one of the worst humanitarian crises. She also hailed joint and fruitful cooperation between the U.A.E. and UK in handling the Syrian crises, citing the support provided by the British side to the joint Emirati-Jordanian refugee camp at Muraijeeb Al Fhood Camp in Jordan. The camp was established as per directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikha Lubna discussed with Duncan the U.A.E - international cooperation to support and develop Yemen's economy. On his part, Duncan praised the U.A.E.'s humanitarian efforts in the field of international development and provision of aid to victims of humanitarian crises. He also hailed the U.A.E.'s second pledge disclosed at the 2nd Donor Conference for Syria, which would enable the UN agencies to deliver more humanitarian assistance to the Syrian refugees inside and outside Syria. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
