Military interference in Syria will destabilize region: Larijani
Tehran, Aug 31, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said Friday that extensive dispatch of arms to Syrian rebels will intensify clashes and destabilize the region.
In a meeting with the Chinese Deputy Foreign Minster Ma Jao Choe, Larijani said that military interference in the country will worsen the situation, destabilizing the entire region.
Expressing pleasure with development of cooperation between the two countries in all fields, Larijani said that Iran and China would use capacities to consolidate friendly ties.
He further noted that Iran welcomes China’s role playing in various international scenes.
The west has created nuclear issue as an excuse to extend domination on the region’s energy resources, he said, noting that Iran has never been after nuclear weapon but it will never overlook its right to peaceful nuclear energy.
Choe, for his part, congratulated Iran on successful holding of the NAM Summit of Leaders and said that the major world body will take effective steps in line with promoting convergence and play an effective role in the international scene under Iran’s presidency.
Underscoring his country’s willingness to expand political and economic cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added that China has always declared that Iran-China friendly ties are rooted in historical ties and profound cultural bonds and that no one can stop it.
""China views cooperation with Iran as strategic.""
As to Iran’s nuclear issue, Choe said that China favors dialogue and negotiations for solving problems and misunderstandings in this resepect.
China is against unilateral sanctions on Iran and believes that it will not solve the problem; rather, it will make it more complicated.
