Military Recognizes The Importance Of China
Beijing, June 5 (Antara) - China plays an important role for Indonesia, particularly in the field of military, according to Vice Commander of the Command and Staff Academy First Marshall Asnam Muhidir.
"Today, China has become a great country. It has even become a competitor to the United States in several sectors including political, economic, and defense. We cannot deny the development of China," Asnam affirmed here on Thursday evening.
Asnam visited China to conduct Regular Foreign College Work 2015 to gain an insight into the developments in China and its role in the regional and global political constellation.
It aims to build future leaders of the Indonesian Military who are capable of analyzing all aspects of Chinese development that can be emulated by Indonesia.
"We can learn, analyze, and apply the positive ideas from China that can be incorporated in the Indonesian Military in the future. As a leadership candidate, all students should have the ability to view China in an open and objective manner to conduct an appropriate analysis to bring about changes to advance the Indonesian Military," Asnam explained.
According to Asnam, various dynamic conditions affect the relations between Indonesia and China.
China also considers Indonesia as a strategic country, considering its demography and geographical location.
"Both countries are mutually dependent on each other. China needs Indonesia's natural resources while Indonesia needs its technology and looks forward to benefit from its economic progress," Asnam added.
Asnam is also of the viewpoint that China has a major role in global and regional politics. He believes that Indonesia should approach China as a strategic partner.
At least 50 student officers of the Indonesian Military attended the discussion at the National Defense University of China and witnessed the demonstration of the 4th Air Defense Missile Division of the Chinese Air Force and other military sector industries.
"Generally, the foreign college work 2015 in China, Japan, and Turkey is focusing on how these countries are developing their defense systems including their own defense industry. We will compare the results of the studies conducted in each country," Asnam added.
