Minister Al Qasimi: UAE women made great achievements in various fields thanks to our leadership

ABU DHABI, 5th March 2015 (WAM) --- Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Cooperation (Micad) has expressed gratitude towards the great achievements UAE women have reached in various fields all through the support of the wise leadership. Al Qasimi made her remark during the Women’s International Day 2015, with members of the UAE’s business groups in Abu Dhabi and in collaboration with the boards of the Australian, British, Canadian and French business groups, yesterday at Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi Hotel. "I feel very happy when I see UAE women operate in all of the fields, such as utilities, police and ports, airports, hospitals, businesses, and government ministries and private departments to participate in the production, construction and progression of our nation," she said adding that celebrating the Women’s International Day is part of the efforts being made by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General ... of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. She highlighted the support extended by Sheikha Fatima to women's empowerment for peace, justice equality. The event has hosted a panel session with Becky Anderson, Anchor, CNN International, and Sana Bardawil, Communications Director, Middle East & North Africa – Shell, during which they’ve provided an opportunity to discuss women’s achievements and challenges both in Media and Communications. Bardawil spoke about the benefits of equality in the oil and gas industry and the challenges women face to develop their careers in the industry. She highlighted the positive role of the Shell Women’s Network, a voluntary internal initiative which helps to create forums to assist in the development and growth of female employees. This initiative has been very successful for Shell, and it is now operating in eight Shell locations around the world.
