MONGOLIA AND CANADA TO MARK 45TH ANNIVERSARY OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ 2018 marks the 45th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Canada. “We will celebrate the milestone with a series of exciting public events in both Canada and Mongolia,” said Canadian Ambassador to Mongolia David Sproule, who arrived in September to take office, in his New Year’s Message to Mongolians. “In 2017, Canada-Mongolia commercial relations continued to strengthen. Early in the year, the Canada-Mongolia Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement was signed. Last year, trade and investment between our countries remained strongest in the mining sector, where Canada continues to be Mongolia’s single largest foreign investor. There is no doubt that our countries achieved a great deal working together in 2017 and we are determined to redouble our efforts in 2018. Canadians have also worked with their Mongolian partners to improve the management of Mongolia’s extractive sector with the aim of maximizing benefits for Mongolians from their country’s bountiful natural resources,” the message said.
