NAM Senior Experts Meeting Ends

Tehran, Aug 28, IRNA – The two-day experts meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement ended Monday. The experts adopted agenda for foreign ministers of the major world body due to convene in Tehran on Tuesday and Wednesday. The political committee of the meeting was chaired by the Cuban envoy and the economic committee was led by the Egyptian envoy. The senior experts meeting of NAM opened on Sunday with a speech by Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi. The two-day main summit of the NAM, a grouping of 120 countries, will be held at the OIC Convention Centre in Tehran on August 30-31. Founded in 1961, NAM has 120 members, most of which are developing countries from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Some observer countries and organizations are also present. The movement, which represents nearly two-thirds of UN member countries, focuses on striving for interests of developing nations. Iran will undertake NAM leadership for the next three years after Egypt./end
