Next round of EU-Azerbaijan talks scheduled for early 2013

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 12 / Trend M. Aliyev / Azerbaijan and the European Union plan to hold the next stage of negotiations on visa facilitation and readmission agreements in the first quarter of next year, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev told the media today. He said there no problems with issues relating to visas. The issues on readmission remains open, Mammadguliyev said. The last round of talks on an agreement on visa facilitation and readmission between Azerbaijan and the European Union was held in November. Relations between the EU and Azerbaijan are being carried out under the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement which was signed in 1996 and came into force in 1999. However, the Government does not intend to artificially extend the signature time of Association agreement, as it will create a legal framework for further cooperation with the EU.
