N.TUVSHINBAYAR SELECTED AS ATHLETE OF 2012

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A State Honored Sportsman and Olympic champion N.Tuvshinbayar has been selected as the Athlete of the Year 2012 of Mongolia thanks to a silver medal from the London 2012 Olympic Games. Thus he has become the very first twice Olympic medalist in Mongolia.
On December 30 he was awarded the “Borte Chono” Trophy after having collected 712 points from sports journalists and members of Mongolia's Association of Sports Journalists. First time he was named the best athlete of the year of 2008 when he had won first ever Olympic gold medal, in judo.
In addition, an Olympic Hall of the “Khumuun” complex school in Tov aimag's Zuunmod soum has been selected as the best Olympics Hall; the “Athens” Olympic council of Omnogobi aimag--the best Olympic council; Mongolia's Olympic Boxing Federation, Mongolia's Freestyle Wrestling Federation, Mongolia's Judo Federation, Mongolia's Mountain Climbing Sport Federation and the Mongolia's Gymnastics Federation--as the best sports federations; a director of the “Khasu Megawatt” company J.Tumen-Ayush--as the best sports figure; an international judge for freestyle wrestling Ts.Sereeter--as the best judge; a boxing coach D.Ganzorig, general coach of the MJF O.Baljinnyam, and freestyle wrestling coach Z.Duvchin--as the best coaches; the national team for beach volleyball and men's basketball--as the best teams.
Other top athletes representing their kinds of sports have been selected by the sports journalists. They are L.Bayarsaikhan, a mountain climber who conquered the Mount Everest; B.Urantungalag, a 9th place holder of the London Olympic Games for archery and national record holder; T.Monkhtuya, a bronze medalist of the FILA World championships; B.Gundavaa, an international grand master for chess; P.Burentogs, 1st place holder of the national wrestling championship; S.Battsetseg, an Olympic bronze medalist for freestyle wrestling; S.Nyam-Ochir, an Olympic bronze medalist for judo; U.Monkh-Erdene, an Olympic bronze medalist for boxing; and N.Togstsogt, an Olympic silver medalist for boxing.
The MJF has selected judoists of the year 2012--N.Tuvshinbayar as the best male judoists of the year, and international master of sports Ts.Monkhzaya--as the best female judoist.
