Officials of US embassy in Kazakhstan elected the US President

Astana, 6 November 2008, (Khabar) - Most of Kazakhstanis voted for Obama during frame-up elections. Officials of US embassy in Astana voted beforehand and sent their ballot papers by post.

The US citizens observed the election in the USA with foreign TV channels. So called US sites were
organized in 11 cities of Kazakhstan where everybody could voter for one
candidate. In this way the Americans managed to find out the opinion of
Kazahstani citizens. Most of our people voted for Barack Obama, 966 against
214 who voted for John McCain. US ambassador to RK, Richard Hougland
stressed again the policy of America towards our republic will remain
unchanged independently of results of elections.

Richard Hougland, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of USA to RK:
- Bilateral relations between our countries are very stable and we have very
good cooperation. My task is to strengthen further these good ties.
Kazakhstan is very interesting for me as it achieved very much in economic
development and it supports development of average class. Your country
managed to attract large-scale foreign investments and well-being of
independent country is rising every year.
