Pakistani Analyst Hails Iran, 5+1 Talks

Islamabad, April 7, IRNA – Pakistani senior analyst on Friday, welcoming the talks between Iran and the 5+1 group, said that Iran’s nuclear right must be respected.
Talking to IRNA, former Foreign Secretary Shamshad Ahmed Khan said that Iranian nuclear issue should be resolved through dialogue and not by putting pressure on the Islamic Republic.
He added that it is the right of Iran to develop nuclear program for peaceful means.
The US, Israel, and their allies accuse Iran of pursuing a military nuclear program.
Iran has refuted the allegations, arguing that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
Shamshad Ahmed Khan was hopeful about the success of Iran-5+1 dialogue. “Dialogue is the only way to solve matters”, the analyst pointed out.
Former Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) was of the view that Iran is signatory to the NPT and the rights of the Islamic Republic provided under treaty should be respected.
“Iran under the treaty is allowed to develop nuclear technology under limitations,” said the analyst.
He said that dialogue is better than confrontation but it should be result-orientated.
The intellectual opined that aggressive policies of west have placed the region into a dangerous situation. “The whole region is being disturbed by the western attitude”, Shamshad Ahmed Khan viewed.
Former Foreign Secretary opined that they (west) want to keep Iran under pressure. He added that the people of western nations are tired of wars.
The analyst went on to say that some circles in the world are campaigning against Iran but they have to keep in mind that wars are not solution to issues rather they create more problems./end
