Pakistani Analyst Warns US Of Grave Consequences Of War On Iran

Islamabad, Feb 5, IRNA -- A Pakistani defense analyst on Saturday warned the US of serious consequences of war against Iran, adding that war is not the solution to any issue. Talking to IRNA, Pervaiz Iqbal Cheema, a professor at the National Defense University (NDU) endorsed the remarks of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei that threats of war to Iran are against US interests and war can be ten times more harmful to that country. Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in his Friday prayers sermon stressed that “US threats are sign of its failure in the face of Islamic Republic’s discourse and indicates that they cannot create a logical response to Iran’s reasoning.' “Yes I agree with the Supreme Leader” said Iqbal Cheema. The analyst said that Iran has always taken a bold stand against aggressive policies of the United States. He added that Iranians have constantly expressed their determination to continue their peaceful nuclear policy and would not bow down to western pressures. “You know war is not the solution to any issue,” the intellectual pointed out. He was of the view that such approaches may be able to influence a small weak power but a power like Iran which is blessed with enormous energy resources, dictation is likely to produce exactly the opposite result. “The West should resolve this issue with peaceful means, war in the region is not in the interest of any body,” Cheema said. He added war creates more trouble in the long run. “War can only buy some time,” he said. “War is not the positive approach and it would be a grave mistake to attack Iran,” the analyst warned. The analyst said that US is making such threats only to please Israel. “In fact Israeli lobby is making the American policies,” he viewed. Iqbal Cheema expressing his views said the US must sit with Iran to resolve all issues. “Policy of coercion always produces opposite results,” he said. The defense analyst said war threats show failure of the US. “The US is threatening Iran because the country is not toeing its line,” he added. Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in his remarks also said that the US and others must know and they know that Iran has threats too in face of oil sanctions and 'We impose them whenever it is necessary.' Cheema said Iran is a strong country and can use its own threats in case of any war imposed against it. Cheema is also a scholar of international repute.
